did this ever actually make the cinemas?

I have seen reviews of this film and the soundtrack in the shops but the film was never in cinemas where I live (Edinburgh).

I thought it would have been on for a short run in the CINEWORLD cinemas or at the Cameo or Filmhouse but it was not.

I will have to wait for the tv showing or buy the dvd.

Was it any good?

I don't see the point of making British films like this that get a very limited release.

Whoever put the money up for this film would have known that the possible target audience are part of a demographic that simply doesn't attend the cinema any longer.

The same applies in the US. The folk who stump up the wonger on a regular basis are youngsters, so you can't really blame the industry for targetting them.

My experiences in the US were that the young people had the attitude to cinema-going that once existed in the UK. IE That you went once or twice a week and paid your money and took your chance. If it was a turkey, so what ? Chance of a good film next time.

It is that ethos that keeps the film business bouyant over the pond. Here in the UK people just have the attitude that if a film comes out, you wait for the DVD.

Too many people have forgotten the sheer magic of film on the big screen.

Pricing policies don't help. (Bah Bloody Humbug!)

Probably nobody will read this since it is weeks since my original post but thanks for the good replies.
I understand about the distribution business but sometimes films are trailed and never actually appear on the screen.

I go to the cinema a lot,why ? because I like the big screen experience and because I have a monthly pass which costs me the same as paying for 2 visits but I can go all the time.
People should look into this deal, only available at one particular cinema chain.

I saw the film at a one-off special screening with Nick Moran - he toured the country doing these but as far as I know, no distribution deal followed. I sadly have to agree with one of the earlier posters - there was no real target audience for the film (as opposed to the play, which did very well). However the central performance is amazing and everything else about this film is top-class.
