So why did she chose to do what she did?

******SPOILERS*****

OK, I do realise that her son was terminally ill, but why did she chose to murder him and then not tell anybody?

And why then, after coming to the conclusion, of her own free will, that she should kill him, did she then insist on punishing herself by remaining quiet at the trial and getting a 15 year sentence? Why the sudden guilt? Did she regret killing him?

Surely after killing her son, she should have told everybody why she did it and hope that they would understand. Instead she choses to remain in a guilty, self imposed, silence which causes so much suffering to her family and friends, etc. Doesn't make sense to me.

Please enlighten me.

She says it herself: "either way I was guilty," "death has no excuses." She knew that killing him was wrong no matter what the circumstances, perhaps she felt that prison was the punishment she deserved. To her, the murder was an act of love - she didn't want him to suffer - but she still took her own son's life. The suffering her family had to endure was nothing compared to her own prison imo.

That was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. Did you grow up in the woods? Are you Nell?
