Why not find soldiers that were stuck in Bosnia and even better.....

If Phil cares so much , where was he when bodies of dead U.S. soldiers were being dragged on display in Somalia ( when they were there only to help). There could have been an interesting story that soldiers were unable to defend themselves mainly due to the fact we (U.S.) were given strict orders not to engage (even in defense) by the Clinton administration. How about a pity party for the large deployment of troops stuck in Bosnia ( who were under U.N. control!), or even better, find some of the families that remember the brutality and death of loved ones that resulted in our botched attempt to assist rebels in ousting Castro under President Kennedy.

I could go on, this is just politics pure and simple. Donahue has never been shy to undermine or belittle anything to do with the military except when it helps him exploit his attack on Bush.

(final note) After the brutal display in Somalia, Donahue was quick to shout it was OUR FAULT for assisting other government leaders in that region's history that Somalians resented. Well, dear Phil, if we are starving to death, I would welcome Hugo Chavez with open arms if he was helping us with food/supplies.

Shame on him!

Your comments in your last paragraph, that Phil Donahue blamed us for Somalia, is utter fantasy on your part. Please show where he ever said that.

It seems your main argument is that Phil Donahue should not be complaining about the war in Iraq if he has never comlained about another war before.
That is absurd.

Your argument seems to be the one that is political.
I can't help but notice you blaming democrats (Clinton and Kennedy)
Aside from the fact that you seem to omit that it was Bush sr who commited us to Somalia before he left office, you also seem to not understand teh fundamental differences between operatins in Somalia and Bosnia as compared t Iraq.

I was referring to an episode of Donahue and Pozner. I don't mind hearing all points of view and it was interesting to hear at it the time. Even though I was indignant in my comment ( using the Hugo Chavez comment and I still feel that way), I still was interested as to why it happened. Donahue explained along with Pozner how the people resented the U.S. for backing leaders that the people resented. I wish I could detail exactly who they referred but this was back in 1993. I am not making it up though and if the transcripts from that show are out there, it was right after the soldier was dragged through the town.

-Yes, I knew that Bush has set up that mission initially ( as Clinton so bravely shouted out then too). I was for it too. However, do you really believe Bush Sr. would have handled it that way when things were getting dangerous? In fairness, I can't completely blame Clinton nor say that Bush Sr. would have fared better. The point I was making was in reference to Donahue. I truly don't mind different points of view but he isn't fair. I wonder how Bush Sr. would have been judged if he were president and not Clinton.

-Btw, I liked Kennedy but that was one horrible tragic mistake ( one he inherited too!) but it was his decision to abandon them.

-The point was is that Donahue is disingenuous when he produces this under the guise of caring about the soldiers with his history towards the military and soldiers in general. Yes, I resent that. You can disagree but it isn't that he can't knock this war because he doesn't knock other wars. That isn't what I was saying and that wouldn't be true. He has been a consistant dove.
