Sam Iola for president!

Just a thought :)

Just saw the movie and I would have to agree. He was great.

He was great, but the very brief shot we had of him in the "where are they now" sequence suggested he was burned out on debate. That's how I read it, I have no idea how he actually feels.

Personally, my presidential vote would go to David Wiltz for his strategic mind and brilliance, his commitment to his students, and his risk-taking.

reply

Maybe the vote should go to Wiltz's amazing students, for having the courage to embrace such a radically different method of debating and the guts to put themselves and their beliefs on the line in every debate - not in the hope of winning, but in the spirit of inspiring change. That's real leadership. Kudos to them.

No, thats why they lost. Their message was about not wanting to win so bad you'll give in to these ridiculous rules, but then the need to win came out by the end of their speech, they used the banking method they talked about hating, and it became too hypocritical for the judge to take it seriously...

I feel the need to point out that there was nothing particularly "radical" about what they did. Kritiks have been around forever, that one started when women started debating more. There's nothing special about it, though they did run the case well. I'm just giving credit where credit is due.
