Owen was a jerk!

I love Cory Monteith but thought his character was awful!
1. He tried to stop his girlfriend going to Paris for a fecking WEEK!! Showed he didn't trust her and was willing to let an 18 year old travel half way across the world on her own because of it

2. He emotionally blackmailed Emma into staying by proposing to her, but he clearly did it in a panic because he didn't have a ring.

3. He made her feel guilty for wanting to go on holiday - "I've got all I want in this truck, what about you" - WTF, so it makes a person a bad girlfriend because they want to explore outside their home state for 7 whole days?

4. He didn't even call Emma to see if she got to Paris OK, I know they fell out but he was in the wrong

5. When he thought she might have met another man, rather than wait a few days until she came back he actually went to spoil her holiday of a lifetime. Imagine being away with your friends and your boyfriend shows up uninvited!

6. When he did track down Emma he automatically assumed that a sound in the hotel room was a guy she was hiding in there. Again he clearly didn't trust her.

7. He was so rude to the hotel receptionist guy, who was on the phone when Owen approached the desk, and rather than let him speak he just started demanding if that man had seen his girlfriend

Actually, I think Owen was a pretty realistic character. There's a whole bunch of people who are perfectly content with their lives and don't have the 'travel abroad' dream that most people have.

Also, Emma is 20 or 21 years old, Grace is the 18 year old in the film.

Although the proposal was unjust, it was clear that Owen had the fear that if Emma saw what else is in the world, she wouldn't want to stay with him in their home town.

Also, I'm not sure if you just want to make the character out to be the bad guy but Owen went all the way to Paris as a grand romantic gesture to show (and apologize) to Emma.

i agree. thought it was really childish that he threw a fit because she was going to Paris for a WEEK for crying out loud. If she'd been goimg for a year I could understand him being a bit fed up, but a week?
