Is it just me or does this sound a lot like the 'Cube' movies?

Strangers waking up in a strange new world. People having to band together to escape. It all sounds pretty familiar to me.

More like Battle Royale or Lost maybe. I also heard there is a video game called the Gauntlet

That ws my very first thought after reading the synopsis. In fact it made me scroll down the the boards here to see if anyone else noticed it haha.

That this movie sounds exactly like "cube."

Except Cube is a kafaesque science fiction movie...this is a horror movie set in an underground castle. I think the similarites end there.

If anything sounds a bit like this Japanese film Battle Royale.

Yup.. one a these (cube-esque flicks) came out last year:

it sounds they had no imagination to make an adaptation of "gauntlet" the videogame from the 80s. a game for four people where you can be : an archer, a swordman, a magician and I can't remember the fourth, maybe an amazon. well, and as they didn't find a scenario they've gone through the "lost memory" easy way.
