Jennifer Lawrence
Would have played the Amy role to perfection. Script is very clever in places and Cusack is always a star. Great supporting cast too. Roberts just doesn't have the strength to pull it off, too weak, light, wimpy.
shareI thought the exact same thing. Lawrence or an actress like her would have made Amy's tantrums and dramatic attitude endearing. Roberts is a shallow and absolutely grating actress. She is not a good lead.
I must say though that the script itself isn't very good. It's standard cliche ridden indie "coming of age" stuff. Even with a good actress who was endearing the film wouldn't work well but it works less well with Roberts as the lead. The supporting actors did do a good job.
Wasn't the point of her to be grating? To be an obnoxious little snot, not endearing?
