Reese Witherspoon looks terrible in this.

I'm not sure whether it's that hair color or poor makeup, too much makeup or maybe just her getting old but she's not looking very good here. I don't think I've seen any new movies of hers in years so maybe it's just age.

Easy for me to say, shallow, mean, etc, blah blah but whatever.

Heavy makeup is not flattering on her at all.
And yeah...I thought she was a little old for the part.

I hear the drizzle of the rain. Like a memory it falls.

reply

Yeah, I think it was the makeup. It was very obvious and very harsh. =/

Makeup is actually accurate for that era the film is set in. Although the lips are suppose to be over the top exaggerated look but then it'll look a bit worse for someone with thin lips. I guess it was the hair. Perhaps if she was brunette, it might had ease up on her harsh appearance.

I thought she looked beautiful, the make up was very fitting for the time. She was playing a well to do woman, but this was probably my least favorite acting job from her. And I LOVE Reese.

Rob was great, he owned the movie, but I just did not feel it from Reese.

Wow, if that's your idea of a women looking terrible, can you please send a couple of them to my room immediately, LOL

reply

She looked different with what I assume was a cartload of make-up to make her look a bit younger and more like a (circus) woman of that era (it worked for me), but by no means terrible!

reply

I'm not gonna lie, I think Reese is beautiful, but I have to agree! I wouldn't use the word terrible, but she did not look very good in this movie.

reply

The peroxide blonde does NOT work for Witherspoon. But the poor make-up might'be been deliberate since it was the Depression era and she was somebody from the tracks...so why should she have Max Factor kind of makeup?

reply

Yes, she was so illegally blonde in this film and certainly did not look at her best. 

I thought she looked her part in this film. It was set in the 30's, so her character had to look that way. She looked like one of those old Hollywood actresses like Jean Harlow or Carole Lombard. She looked quite beautiful.
