I just viewed it at NBFF. Sorry, there's nothing horrific about it IMO. In fact it's a very touching story with interesting characters. I found the over all story mostly predictable with nice little surprises along the way, none the less it was a highly enjoyable film. It even brought a momentary tear to my eye at one point.

I too was hoping for something dark, but in spite of not getting this I was very pleasantly taken in by the film.

Yes, I often thought about Death Note as I watched, but The Accuracy of Death doesn't have the same character darkness, and the story takes quite a different point of view.
