So…..are Laurie and Michael siblings, or no?

My memory isn’t great so hopefully someone with a better memory can help me out here.

I know during all the sequels to the original, at some point they determined that Laurie was Michael’s sister.

But then in the 2018 movie, which was supposed to be a direct sequel to the 1978 original, they debunk that, and, in fact, make a joke about how it was a rumour.

But now in this new one, they are saying she is Michael’s sister again. Am I missing something?

I saw Halloween Kills today and I don't recall any mention of Laurie and Michael being siblings. They mention his sister that he killed when he was a kid a couple times, but that's about it.

reply

Oh? Maybe I misunderstood. I will have to check on the rewatch, tomorrow morning lol

Thanks!

reply

Yeah she was his younger sister

reply

No she isn't. They made that clear in the 2018 Halloween and never said anything close to that in this one.

reply

Yeah because they erased part two . In the original part two…they were siblings

reply

I know, I remember that. I hated that stupid twist.

reply

Yea, it’s just the sister he killed as a kid, the one and only Judith, that’s mentioned and linked to him. Laurie is not his sister.

Though before seeing it, I kinda was thinking that what if maybe it turns out that the two are siblings after all? But no, it’s been made pretty clear that the two are not brother and sister. Hell, it even looks like Michael doesn’t hold any fascination with or a vendetta against Laurie. It’s intriguing nonetheless, looking forward to Ends.

Yes they are despite what any Aging Hollywood Hipster tries to tell you.

reply

Wrong. And how would you know since you claimed in a different post you didn't bother watching this movie 🙄

reply

Because I've seen the original Halloween 2 alot of times

reply

Yes but these new Halloweens are direct sequels to the first Halloween from 1978 only. They ignore the second one with Laurie escaping Michael in the hospital.

From the writers and director: "This film is set 40 years after the original film and ignores all of the previous sequels and reboots (even 1981's Halloween II and 1998's Halloween H20, both of which starred Jamie Lee Curtis). It also ignores the very end of the original film in which Michael Myers was shot several times by Dr Loomis and somehow survived. In this film, it is stated that the police arrived and Michael was simply taken back to the mental institution where he has remained for the past 40 years."

reply

Yeah the sister thing I believe was added for Halloween 2 by carpenter but he apparently later regretted that.

Some confusion might be the fact a later scene was added to the original film I believe due to a runtime issue for a TV channel, which had Michael scratching the word sister or something in his hospital cell

reply

Yeah, they added it for Halloween 2 to create a justification for why Michael Myers would still be going after Laurie. It was just a plot device.

reply

So i should just forget about the sequel that seams so perfectly to the original that you could watch both movies back to back and never know you switched movies and accept this weird fever dream of a movie that doesn't even seem to be on the same planet as the original and was made by the Pineapple Express guys?

Your choice.

reply

Yes. That's exactly what you should do.

Saying that they're siblings on a thread for a movie where they are not siblings is lunacy.

It doesn't matter if this movie is a piece of shit.
