I hope so!

I'm American and "Oliver Twist" is my favorite Dickens tale...and I wanna see Timothy Spall :P.

The BBC needs the money so they'll be looking to sell it.

When you've got to shoot, shoot.Don't talk.

I'm counting on PBS Masterpiece Theater to show it, but we might not get it until next year.

It definitely will be shown in the US because this is actually a co-production between the BBC and WGBH Boston.

You are welcome to it in the USA.

The trailers I've seen show 2007 values but in costume. It looked awful.

I was just waiting for someone to say, "Tell me about it" or "Get off my case".

They may as well have set it in the modern era; at least that would be different.

started last night, enjoying it, look forward to the 2nd part tonight at 8pm

So far I've seen Parts 1 & 2 and it looks really good. A first class BBC production.

I was really unimpressed by the trailers and ready to expect to see it getting the same treatment as Robin Hood...

But it's been brilliant!

Tonight's episode has definitely been the best, love it!

I quite agree, but it ain't Oliver Twist. It seems that half the story has been completely invented, as well as history being rewritten. The other night we had "Abide With Me" being played on a modern-sounding piano and sung 40 years before it was composed, tonight we had family photographs in the early 1800s. I look forward to the concluding episode tomorrow, where I expect Bill Sikes will get his come-uppance in the electric chair.

At least this episode had more of the string quartet music, and less of the drums and Fender Strats.

Aaah the fact I haven't read the book in a while probably helps. I realised early on in the book -> TV/film front that you should never read the book before seeing the film... Queen of the Damned pretty much taught me that...

As long as they're not singing the music I'm not too fussed on that point, I rather like the soundtrack.

reply

Haha yeh, read books after you've seen the film/programme that way you arent disapointed!

I love this new Oliver and because some storylines have been created it makes it so much fresher and unexpected, you actually dont know how it will turn out! Oliver is also fantastic in this, so much bolder and energetic! I love this new take!
