Garbage

I wish I hadn't wasted my time watching this movie. I wish I had time to explain all the things I found wrong with it, but here are some lowlights:

- What is up with that description? It almost has nothing to do with the movie! Were we supposed to be thrown by it? If so, it didn't work, because I predicted the least-common denominator plot in the first 20 minutes.

- There should have been more time spent on the garment workers...it would have redeemed a predictable and sorry plot.

- The "lost little girl falling into the arms of sad, manipulative older man" trope is overplayed, so I felt no sympathy for either Zoe or Ben. Zoe had resisted his advances, and overcame her circumstances without that part of the plot, I would have some respect for her.

- Other disturbing things: Alex was single-handedly supporting the family while her husband pursues his dream (remember the scene where they are figuring out their expenses -- it was a major sacrifice for her); she gets berated for wearing man-suits by her children and the woman she takes in; is called a workaholic even though she the only one freakin' working at the time; and, the only scene in which there is any intimacy between her and her husband is when she's wearing something revealing (and there's no way of telling if they haven't had sex in a while). Here's the real kicker: after supporting him, her husband has the nerve to say that she's neglecting him, cheats on her, and then she takes him back? Wow. She should have left his sorry ass ASAP.

I know everything "worked out" in the end, but at whose expense? Are we supposed to be happy that Alex and Ben got back together, with her probably feeling guilty for being a successful businesswoman?

I hated this movie more than I can remember ever hating any other movie for a long time. I kept watching because I hoped that at some point, there would be something empowering. Lifetime, please start using your platform as a "network for women" to air things that aren't so incredibly insulting to women and their pursuits.

Agreed! What a total waste of time!

Agreed...what a waste of time! I cringed at just about every scene. I also found myself rolling my eyes constantly. It was soo cheesy. The worst part of it was that Alex took Ben back in the end. Please!! Talk about a selfish man. And I would not give a crap about that Zoe chick either if she screwed my man after taking her into my home.

They used to call people like Zoe "a scheming minx".
She sure is. She's lucky she only got kicked out, not kicked in the ass.
What were the scriptwriters thinking to use such stereotypes.

Happens to men all the time, I'm supprised that the estrogen network aired something that put a woman in the role men are always cast in.

One other thing why is it when a man cheats he is a disgusting pig who cant keep it in his pants, but when a woman cheats its because her husband is a disgusting pig who cant satisfy her needs?

to call this movie crap would be far too kind. Holy mother of pearl! And can we just comment on how foul it was to watch cute Zoe get it on with the lumpy and wholly unattractive Ben? Ewwww....

And Darryl seriously needs to empty some of that Botox out of her once lovely face.

I agree 100%, when a woman cheats the first thing out of her mouth is, "you never pay me any attention". When a man cheats he's at fault, when a woman cheats again the man is at fault for neglecting her needs.

I hate hypocrisy

i agree and can't imagine what drugs DH was on to agree to be in this movie. maybe she needed some money to pay for all the bad plastic surgery! worst screenplay ever.

I hear you, mismay360.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why the hell Alex continued to help Zoe after she:
- Kept being incompentent up on the job, even after Alex vouched for her. This was even after Zoe screwed up errands around the house (didn't get rice for Chinese food dinner)
- Slept with her husband after Alex took her in to help her out
- Stole from Alex's place of employment

I could understand better if Zoe was Alex's daughter or niece but Zoe was just some chick she met at work.

Alex should have left Zoe's stank butt in the gutter with her sleazy boyfriend, where she belonged. I wish to hell someone would hold my hand and give me a zillion chances so I could have a high paying, glamorous job. Making mistakes at work is an easily forgivable thing but sleeping with your boss' spouse after they saved you from being homeless and stealing from the office are beyond the pale.

Zoe is the luckiest person on the planet. For someone who continually messes up, she sure got a lot of chances and do-overs. Even if she is stupid enough to wear strappy sandals to sleep in her car.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
