Excellent Story--Lousy ending

I liked this one just as much as the previous ones. BUT, as they only make one of these per year, we have to wait till 2010 to find out what happens to Jesse! I'm not happy. I want more of these, and more often. I know Tom Selleck does not want
the grind of a weekly series, so how about three per year? That should allow a relaxed shooting sked, and the quality wouldn't suffer.

This is the first one I've seen..(where have I been?) Do they ever show the past ones? I loved this one but since I didn't know this was a once a year thing, I was looking for previews because I just knew they wouldn't leave it like that...wrong!!

I was excited about THIN ICE. It was good. Not great, but well done. I think Tom does an excellent job. There was a hit British series called "Inspector Morse" about a homicide detective who spends time alone drinking and listening to classical music. It was an excellent show. I consider JESSE STONE to be the American version of "Morse."

Night Passage, Death in Paradise and Sea Change are available from Netflix, so I guess you could rent them on DVD.

I LOVE Tom Selleck and wish they'd do more per year, too. There are plenty of novels to base the movies on, not to mention plenty of ideas writers can come up with. Surely they could work something out and give us fans what we want!!! (more Tome Selleck, preferably without his shirt on! )

The other films are all available on DVD. I still haven't picked up Stone Cold for some reason, which is weird because I like it best, but I've got all of the others. I see them at my local grocer on the $9.99 rack pretty frequently.

If you've got a video store or Netflix membership, you should be able to find the others. They're better without commercials anyway. I was complaining to my wife last night that the commercials were nearly as long as the movie.

As for the OP, I agree, except with the judgement about the ending. I'd say it was just about right. We don't need to know all of the answers. Will the kidnapper be arrested? Will the true mother want revenge or will closure be enough? Will Jesse leave Paradise? Hope not, but there's the possibility.

It's clear that Jesse doesn't see any possibility of continuing as a cop if they fire him, but it's good to see them using the continuity and showing the consequences of the previous stories. Jesse may or may not have been forced into using his gun to solve problems, but when you're a member of the town council of a tourist town, a trigger-happy Chief is a potential liability.

Paradise got more than they bargained for when they got Jesse Stone, and it remains to be seen whether they think it was a good bargain or not. It was made pretty clear that the feelings on the council were not unanimous, so a return to Paradise is not out of the question, with Jesse on some kind of probation. If they did that, I'd just want to make sure that isn't basically a repeat of this movie.

Blockbuster has these. So I guess you could rent them there. Or you could buy the previous episodes. Amazon has them at a reasonable price.

I wouldn't say it was a lousy ending but it sure was a sad ending; at least about Carolyn Manheim's son, I was bawlin my eyes out.

These are excellent movies, I wish there were more of them, too. Selleck is a very underrated actor, always has been.

I think the quality is good at the one a year release. I wouldn't like to see this winning system tampered with. Perhaps a weekly series would be attempting too much of a good thing.
