Will Thor be a comedian in this one too?

He stand up act was really good in part 3.

reply

I assume so, since the hilarious "Ragnarok" made a lot of money. Twice as much as the first film.

reply

Will be a dumb, stupid, funny movie that will a make a billion.

reply

I absolutely love dumb, stupid, funny movies that have lots of special effects and hot actors!

And I'm going to enjoy them before they disappear, since I think the new, post-lockdown economics of Hollywood are going to kill the special-effects extravaganza movie.

reply

I hope it will be like Ragnarok-- a dry, intellectual wit akin to that of Monty Python, as opposed to the typical Hollywood dumb, stupid, funny movies that are everywhere anymore.

reply

He was funny in his first two movies too.

reply

I think so, Taika said this is still planned as a comedy so yeah serious Thor is over.

reply

Thor was never 100% serious, even in the comics he had touches of deadpan humor. So that's why Waititi is a good fit with Thor, he has a great sense of the absurd.

And it's why I worry about Waititi taking a crack at the Star Wars franchise. His humor is perfect for Thor, who was always slightly ridiculous by human standard, but it's ALL WRONG for Star Wars! In Star Wars everything everyone has to take everything totally seriously, and if anyone attempts a joke, it's got to be so bad it's funny because it's not funny!

reply

Well he was mostly a serious character, at the beginning the films had a Shakespearean tone and then Waititi came to the picture and turned Thor into a comedy which I agree with you it worked really well.

Yes Thor had some good funny moments in the first movie like I need a horse and another one lol 😂 but it was first considered a serious character before Waititi came in.

With Star Wars sounds like an odd director for the franchises but he did an episode for the mandalorian and seems like it was just fine so let’s see what he does.

reply

I don’t know why people keep saying the first films had no humor. Thor was always funny. Ragnarok ramped that up but I mean, one of the mist famous scenes in the first Thor movie involved Thor asking for a giant puppy to ride.

reply

wonder if we will get fat thor though...

reply

For the purposes of continuity, I expect they will address his weight and perhaps squeeze a few more laughs out of his girth but I’d guess he will return to his fit form before the movie has professed far.

reply

yeah, the trailer shows him working out, what a stud.

reply

What part was his stand-up routine. I don't remember that.

reply

It was the entire movie, told good jokes through the whole thing.

reply

Hopefully. Ragnarok was hysterical and Taiki is a great comedy writer/director. Disney recognizing how good Chris Hemsworth is as a comedic actor and leaning more heavily into that in Ragnarok is one of the best things they've done.

reply

Hopefully not , i want the real Thor

reply

In what Marvel movie are the characters not written to be comedians?

reply

Endgame, Black Widow didnt tell many jokes.

reply

The whole time travel part in Endgame is entirely comedy.

reply

We're one movie away from a Hulk farting joke.

reply

lmao and fans will love it
