6.5/10

The film had a very ambitious concept and it has good cinematography, good costumes, good acting, and a good music score....

but everything else is problematic. The 3 hour length is too overblown and could've been trimmed down by 30 minutes to make it flow better, the characters are a little undeveloped, the content scenes (involving an elephant s***ing, the main chick peeing on a fat guy) I could do without because it made the whole movie a little too excessive.

I expected a lot more from Damien Chazelle who directed that way more superior La La Land, but Babylon only ends up being an OK flick. Had this movie not been released in the same month as Avatar: The Way of Water, it would have at least done better financially.

Yeah, I give it about a 7.

It was trying too hard. And im getting a bit too tired of movies about Hollywood depravity in general, with nihilistic characters that makes dumb life choices. And also the "movies are magical" trope, thats been done to death lately, even though I am cinephile.

Tobey cameo was the best part, his pitchings were hilarious xD. And Margot was beautiful in this.

Yeah, but the reason why I gave this movie a 6.5 is because some of the graphic content (the elephant ****ing in the beginning of the movie for example) were too extreme. and yeah the Hollywood depravity and "movies are magical" cliche has been done to death so many times over the years that it's started to get tiresome. At least the movie had a nice concept.

It dragged a bit in the last third but I liked it. The score, the costumes and lavish party scenes were something else. Definitely should have ran less than 3 hours. 7/10

I was thinking the same thing about that. It could have been at least 2 hours and 30 minutes and I would have given it a 7.5/10 if it did.
