In the last act, before the pastor's son and his followers go on a literal witchhunt with guns, the pastor and his son talk in the hallway of the church. The pastor reveals (I think) that he killed the guy at the lake years ago which they subsequently blamed on Aiden's mother, the witch, and burned her in the shack.
It was difficult to discern the dialogue, but why did the pastor kill that guy (I think his name was Jimmy)?
They didn't 100% say but hinted that the pastor had sex with the guy. The guy was going to tell people. The pastor couldn't let him do that because it would have ruined him for people to find out that he had some gay love affair going on. So he killed the guy.
