Timing and Dates so off :(

just started watching this - and it starts in 1945, where she could look like 50-60.
But in 1914, 30 years before - at the start of WW1, she had boys old enough to fight..and we know she did not marry Gilbert that young..she was in her early 20's at least, possible mid 20's at least before she had her first surviving child!
why why why?
it could have been done and been faithful to the timing in the books?
or is my Maths really off?

I spent ages trying to work this one out properly. I did it, but then I wanted to find the places in the books for you to check my workings...and then I found this.

My maths was right (I'd worked out that she would have been 80 in 1945) but there's a link for you to be able to follow how I got to that conclusion.

Hope it helps.

You are right, the third movie completely changed the timing setting and whizzed Anne and Gilbert forward to WWI as a still young couple, when in the books they had children fighting in the war.

Not only that, but Rachel Lynde still being alive when Anne was in her 50s?? in this movie was ridiculous, as she was a mature woman with grown children left home when Anne was 10 years old. The housekeeper Hepzibah still being alive was insane as well, judging by how old she was when Anne was about 10.

Highly unlikely that Gilbert's body would have been shipped home if he died in action. (unless that was a memorial with no remains).

This movie is just a travesty, and so unrelated to the original Anne, that it might as well have been given a different name and been a completely original movie. Except that it wouldn't have made as much money then!
