Was this a pre-cognitive dream? If so, why was he not alarmed? Surely, he would have believed in the power of dreams.

Even if he did believe in "the power of dreams" what could he do? There was no sense in making a fuss over something he couldn't change anyways.

but wasn't the dream more about his insecurities? Was he a real warrior or just posing as one? It seems his strong Norse wife is berating him about being an inept second rate viking.
And Volnard never sees the female Indian, only Orn. I assumed it might be a figment of Orn's imagination and sadomasochistic fantasy.
