Wheeeeee!!! Disasters are FUN! Wheeeeee!!!

This type of movie is exactly what Martin Scorsese was complaining about when he talked about films being like a theme park.

Disaster movies aren't supposed to be a vicarious, fun thrill ride. They're supposed to make you shit your pants and feel the exact same feelings of "we're in this together" spirit that all people tend to fall in when disasters strike.

This movie is one long idiot-thon where we're supposed to see everything happening as fun or cool. It's obvious because we're forced to basically experience it from the perspective of the cameraman, who is dumb as a box of rocks. There's actually a moment right before the helicopter is hit and he is killed when he stares at Midtown Manhattan smoldering in ruins and goes, "Cool..." 🙄
