Why was she forced out?

Why did she have to leave the Goze House, when she was attacked?

I read they are not to interact but, that is just madness. In some ways, we have not advanced that.

Because she had sexual intercourse with a man. That the intercourse was a rape didn't seem to matter to the other Goze.

Because whatever happens in a patriarchy is rationalized to be a woman's fault. She was wearing a very short skirt, your honor. Boys will be boys and women will be their downfall, those evil temptresses. A woman's face can launch a thousand ships. Cherchez la femme. If no femme can be found, blame Eve for eating an apple.

Except that it was the other women in the group that forced her out.

Women grow up in the same patriarchal society and are indoctrinated with the same sexist stereotypes as men. Therefore, they and can be just as misogynistic as men.

Even without taking patriarchal power structures into account, people are quick to blame others for their plight. Think of the way the rich treat the poor and blame them for an accident of birth. They must have done something right to be rich, whereas the poor must have done something wrong. In the same way, women rationalize the plight of other women as their own fault. If only she had been more careful, dressed more modestly etc. pp. If only she were more like me. People love feeling superior to others.
