Has National Lampoons lost the plot?

I have been a fan of National Lampoons movies for years but of late I think their movies have become so humdrum and repetitive. Just copying other movies.
They have forgotten what National Lampoons name is all about.

This latest release is just pain stupid, boring, repetitive and predictable.

What do you guys think.

I think you're wrong. It's one of the movies that really entertained me recently.
It's just a silly movie that happens to work somehow. It so sad to see people who hadn't even watched it, dissing it, just because they've seen "Meet the Spartans". I've watched "Meet the Spartans" and it was indeed an atrocity, that I don't even remember now, but this here is not.
Of course it could be much better, in terms of script, but the strength of this movie are the actors. I was really surprised by Kristanna Loken, I never though she could pull of a comic role. Will Sasso, who I have never heard of before is perfect for the role. The guy who played Erotic, Khary Payton, was great and just brimming with energy, Tony Cox was hilarious here, and had more than one or two lines. Kevin Linehan who played Quantas, incredible role with his pessimist captain. And I can go on, and write all of the actors - it's obvious that they had fun while filming this.
The only low moments of the movie come when they try to lower the level down intentionally to appeal to teen audience. Dope jokes weren't very in place here.
Plus this movie had some incredibly beautiful women, and naked boobs which is always a plus. The only woman I remember from "Meet the Spartans" is Karmen Electra and I don't think she showed her boobs. Probably because everyone is tired by seeing them.

I have seen it mate, so I can diss it.
There was no originality in it at all. At least the Lampoon movies of past were more original in script. All they have done here is copied 300 and Meet the Spartans. Nothing original. Meet the Spartans leaves this movie for dead.
As for the drug reference, this is common with many Lampoon movies, however I agree there was no need for it, so to speak.
The cast was well selected yes, but the idea is not original is what I am getting at.

Originality is hard to achieve having in mind that they were probably trying to please the main potential audience - male US teenagers. At least there wasn't a single fart joke here. That's pretty amazing.
Like I said ,it certainly could've been a lot better in terms of script or plot. I doubt that the makers of the movie could get further than the "sword action + testosterone + hot women" territory, before getting fired. But it was much better than MTS. I can't remember what the plot was for MTS at all. What I remember is that it was a bunch of imitations of the original scenes that were supposed to be funny just because the actors had vaguely similar clothes or makeup or said the same lines, while making a funny face. I may have to watch it now again, because I can't comment something that I have no memory of.

the difference is also that meet the spartans was a rushed piece of crap, where they have actually taken there time with it.

One coule probably have created Meet the spartans purely by pulling different pop culture videos off the net and mashing them together.

i do like how people keep saying they've copied 300. Most of the material has little to no relation to 300 at all, aside from the you must only use 300 soldiers the cliff bit and the traitor(and well every story needs a traitor to move it along) and most of those things don't effect the majority of the movie.

It's a spoof of the story of troy that could have been done 10 years ago and would basically be the same film because it's not rooted in a set period of pop culture like most of the current spoof movie's are.

and aside from that original thought doesn't exsist any more because original thought doesn't make money, theres a reason we have hollywood making remakes of tv series from 30 years ago. People will watch it and most of there work is already done for them. Im waiting for the inevitable lets bring macgyver back(though we had the macgruber spoof)

I agree with you on this one William, what i find 10x funnier than the movie is the people flocking to defend it from people stating the truth about flatulance! Seriously this movie is a bag full of queefs

The only good movie National Lampoon has ever made was Animal House. Since then, they've just made crappy college party films that are basically retarded clones of Animal House.

NL never was intended for everyone, just the frat boy type set.
