about "Attention Shoppers"

In this serie a teenage girl bullied by gang girls. The physical harassment (pushing, punching, slapping, then forced haircut) shown explicitly. WAS THAT NECESSARY??? I mean, that would've given real-life teenage girl gangs idea, wouldn't it??? Where's the scriptwriter's brain when creating this??? More to add, nothing done to those little bitches to deliver the ease-of-mind balance. No wonder this serie end up like another Canadian serial "The Listener", BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL LACK OF CLIMAX!!! f#ck this (middle finger to producers)!!! And somebody please rape those antagonist casts off-screen!!!

You honestly think a show like this gives gangs ideas?

This series did not "end up" like The Listener.

The producers of the show made the decision to conclude it after 5 seasons. Otherwise, it was a ratings winner for the parent network, CTV.

Your anger towards fictional characters is highly disturbing.

Hey TesubCalle. Your response to the OP is kind. I could not really make much sense of it (maybe English is not the poster's 1st language...), but from what I could discern it was kinda... What's a polite word for dumb?

Ignorant?

reply

Sure. That works. But more importantly, your response to my post reminds me of a scene from a movie I LOVE. This is IMDb, so I can be a ridiculous movie freak and be reminded of movie scenes by the littlest thing without it scaring anyone, right? Check out how this scene from the under-appreciated Nurse Betty fits our posts :

Pushing and punching and slapping are bad, but rape is okay??? That's scary.

There's someone in my head but it's not me.

reply

They're bad because they were on-screen. It's okay as long as it's off-screen. What you don't know wouldn't harm you.

You sure don't think much of the intelligence of gang members do you? I guarantee you that there was nothing in this that gangs didn't already do to not only civilians but rival gangs/gang members. Hell, I've seen worse treatment of victims on US television shows! (And by the way, it wasn't a "girl gang", it was just female members of a gang.)

nothing done to those little bitches to deliver the ease-of-mind balance.

Did you really watch this episode? One got shot and the others were caught and went to jail. TPtB may not of shown it but you should be able to infer it, Greg and company weren't going to release them after they were arrested and they were arrested.

And like TesubCalle said, this show didn't end up like anything. The makers of the show decided to end it at 75 episodes. Both CTV and ION would have loved more seasons. This show was a ratings winner all over the world.

The balance I was talking about is the physical harassment. Those three should've received the same treatment, not just a custodial status. It's what grown-ups do decades ago: spank the naughty girl(s). And I mean the proper one, not the fantasy kind.

Extreme justice, you may call it.

reply

You realize the episode only showed the gang members being questioned by the SRU team. We did not see an arraignment or a court case, judgment or sentencing. This is not a Law & Order show that details the police investigation and court proceedings.

Be logical.

Law enforcement officers are not supposed to mete out punishment before a trial. That would be a breach of ethics, no matter how much the cops themselves might want to dish out a little retribution, or how much a disturbed and outraged viewer might want to see it.

If you want to see the girl gang members "punished", write your own story with an alternate conclusion to satisfy your own morbid sense of "justice". It's called "Fanfiction", and I hear it can be very cathartic and therapeutic if you didn't like how the actual episode played out.

Great response.

With all the anger, it sounds like the OP may have been bullied or something, in which case I do feel pity for her/him - but you are exactly correct, we need to discern reality from fictional TV and react accordingly.

What's illegal for them to do is also illegal to be done to them.

And they would have been released before they'd spent an hour in jail!

Please go watch Bishop in NCIS.
