Pro and cons of this bio series

Pros
1. they have choosed the actor well. his mannerism, movement and fighting scenes looks a lot like bruce.
2. lots of JKD philosophy.
3. closing mandarin song very nice.
4. the fight scenes were very well done.

Cons
1. whole damn series is in mandarin. everyone speaks english. every american can speak mandarin. fantastic. all hongkees speak mandarin and not cantonese.
2. they filmed his teenage years in china so it's not authentic hongkong scenery.
3. yip man stays in a bloody big mansion and has a solid body with long flowing white beard. geez.
4. ruby became bruce's very very good friend and mentor and is a powerful lady in the chinese community in the whole of america. geez.
5. bruce took part in many competitions and won becoming the champion in the whole of america. geez
6. the whole episode of bruce becoming kato is all but erased from his life. not mentioned at all. same with all his other tv appearances.
7. LA cops are made to look like idiotic wimps and they have to hire bruce to teach them JKD at USD400 per session. and they are made to only help the rich who are also white. anyone out of that category, they will not help. geez 2x
8. hollywood potrayed in very very bad light and all of hollywood are money sucking vampires.
9. no mention of robert lee. he doesn't exist.
10. linda is too big sized and tall.
11. jun fan is also not mentioned at all. they renamed it bruce lee school.
12. inosanto potrayed as a professor.
13. gf sanbo changed to a filipino girl and dumped by bruce for linda.
14. very cheap production especially all the scenes in america.
15. linda having to work by mowing lawns everyday?????? geez
16. no law and order in america. free for all with fights everywhere whenever you like. mafia likes to extorts film stars from overseas. LOL. wahahahahahahaha
17. very damn draggy and dialogue very cheesy and dump. why can't they write in good dialogues?
18. the opening song in english very nice but spoilt at the end by overkilling bruce lee's name. singer kept singing bruce lee, bruce lee, bruce lee.
19. bruce easily disarms thugs holding guns with his nunchaks. he walks around with a pair of nunchaks and even the police approves of it!!!!!! they also got bruce to teach them how to use and fight with nunchaks!!!!! wahahahahahahahaha
20. once again his back accident is attributed to the fight with the chinese martial arts community rep. made it so bloody dramatic and then a quick miracle for his complete healing.
21. a newspaper clipping when he was just starting out in america uses a pic from a real bruce's movie. so freaking dumb to do this. producer and director very cheapor with no brains.
22. there are more but i'm too upset to continue.

if this is the bilge that official chinese media puts out they will never become a cultural super power ever at this rate.

it was so cheesy..so bad:P

good thing it isn't subbed, its a disservice to his image and legacy.

I want to say you have a good list, but the part about hollywood is pretty true. Anyways I wanted to add on the con parts, I just saw the first episode today and all I can say is it is so inaccurate, I mean the term "weak men of asia" was seen in Fist of Fury(chinese connection) and it was used in this whole series like propaganda.

But overall I agree about the production and the random situations the characters are put in and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Bruce is turning in his grave cause of this series.

Anyone notice the modern day fashion for some of the fighters and extras, it was meant to be set in the 70's and it had guys with backward hats and hiphop clothing

I just watched the 3 hour dubbed version of this tv programe. To tell you the truth, i enjoyed it. You have to go into it know that most of it is BS, and thats what i did. The fight scenes were ok, and he does at times look alot like lee. Almost every aspect of this was fantasy. Even the scenes like the big boss and fist of fury never happened in the origional films. But i still enjoyed it :)

I was going to watch this series but with all those cons I am hesitating now. I can stand not having sutitles or dubbing but the rest is too much!

-- More people speak Mandarin and Cantonese than they do English. If you want to see an English speaking series, then watch that. Don't complain about no English in a FOREIGN show.

--He was rich and owned a big school.

5. bruce took part in many competitions and won becoming the champion in the whole of america. geez
--He never became a major Champion but he did win several competitions and compete several times during the 60's.

--Hollywood and Politics are all about the Money. True Story.

14. very cheap production especially all the scenes in america.
-- Course it was, it is China after all ;) that and there weren't many people on board for the show.

--Believe it or not, a lot of fighting did happen in the streets. The god thing about the 50's and 60's is that people always took the fight outside. At least thats what my Granddad said. A lot of fighting, mostly in the weekends.

Yeah, the series was quite disappointing but I'm a screeching girl when it comes to seeing my favorite Stunt Actors on screen with a big name in the title.

@1 its not true, more people in the world speak english than cantoneese or mandarin. What you are reffering to is state langugage, however many countries which does not haven english as state country can easily communicate in english.

So far, Danny is probably the closet actor that looks like Lee without coming off as some sort of Bruceplotation clone. That's one thing is has going. But, it has a lot inaccuracies and plots that didn't even happen in real-life that were only written to fill up episodes. I don't even wanna go into the fictional rival that kept popping up.
