He's MUCH more intelligent than that, he did not become gazillionaire just by chance, and certainly not by doing stupid things. He saw a relationship between Dodi and Diana as a great springboard for his image and now he's out to make the most profit from his personal loss. It's no issue if he seems a little crazy or paranoid in the process.
Most of his hating the British Royal Family must be a pose. Otherwise why go live exactly were you'd see them the most? out of all the countries of the planet. He found his success in Britain, ok, but with all his money he can now go back to Egypt if he feels in such bad company, and be plenty happy.
