why DIDn'T he go to the gym? Plot-hole + terrible message

she asks him, "Have you been to the gym?"

he of course, as a the fat lazy bum he is, answers, 'no'

why didn't he make some effort and get himself in shape and attempt to improve his appearance for this woman? considering this was the ONLY problem as set out in the film??

He wanted to date beautiful women like Garner but refused to improve his own sub-standard appearance. What a terrible message it sends out that men, even though they are ugly and make zero effort to improve their ugliness, should expect to date and marry beautiful women.

Totally true. The whole thing is a mess actually. Gervais' character is not even funny or smart to begin with. Actually, until he learns to lie he doesn't have any redeeming virtue whatsoever. Oh, yes, he loves his mom. Well, who doesn't?

I hated this movie in every possible way. Not sure if there is any message, but all the talk about "losers", "mansions", physical appearence obsession and shameless product placement make this a particularly disgusting flick.

Pretty much most of the characters in the movie have uninspiring behavior and are mostly unappealing.

Guess what! I've got a fever, and the only prescription is MORE COWBELL! -Bruce Dickinson-

Wow superficial much? Didn't you get that Jennifer Garners character represents the personification of shallow judgemental people in society? No? Well I'm sure you have a few mirrors you can hold up to your soul to work out what sort of person you are.

He says he has a gym membership plus if he changed his appearance the whole message of being beautiful no matter what is lost

Still waiting to have the so called "plot hole" outlined.

I go to the gym regularly but I find it rather silly to expect all men (or women for that matter) should be so inclined or expected to do that. Horses being suited to various courses etc.

One of the main threads of the film was that he found a way to her heart through other more intellectual means, rather than just slinging some iron around in the gym.🐭

you are making an advertisement for gyms, maybe because you're a gym owner. the movie made advertisement for pizza hut, because the movie maker is a big fat piece of crap with a punked nose.

and how a gym would fix his punked nose, actually it will be worse when a weight fall on it. do you recommend medical operation to fix his nose? what a terrible message!

i mostly will not be able to answer your reply, since marissa mayer hacked my email, no notification
