I do know what you mean, in a way I think the improv seemed to stifle the flow of certain scenes and I found that a lot of the dialogue was mumbled and I had to rewind to hear what was said. It did lack something but then that might have been the point as the main character is a passive depressive then it would make sense for the story to seem slightly lethargic and dull. I enjoyed it but it's not a film I'll be able to watch over and over despite having Rob Pattinson in it as it only evokes feelings of not belonging and bewilderment.
But I did like the script and thought some of the lines were very funny especially when Art says about his bed: "That's exactly where my bed was as well except it was over there."
