Does anyone here agree the Soundtrack of this movie, "Hua Xin" (Painted Heart) sung by Jane Zhang was one of the best chinese movie soundtrack ever written? The lyric & the erhu plays at the beginning of the song suits well with her dolphin pitch in the middle of that song?! I cried when i heard that song for the third time! Really a chiller!
"Happy Wife = Happy Life (Still, keep her away from your wallet)"
Was going to add something similar. Beautiful sound effects throughout and gentle interesting music - there were times I stopped to appreciate just the music. The cinematography was also excellent, I love the warm sepia camera effect throughout and the scenery was fascinating, beautiful and atmospheric. The sets were excellent, makeup was excellent. A truly professional job.
However while I liked the first 2/3 of the story (almost like a detective/horror with some real tension at times) I did not like the Romeo and Juliet style ending, too mushy by far and all too often typical of Chinese cinema this kind of 'I sacrifice for love' ending.
