What does Katherine Heigl say?!?

After Messer puts Sophie to sleep by singing "Creep" he and Holly argue, and she says something like "...even Peter thought so but he just never said anything to you because he (something something) the man that you were." I've watched it a couple of times, and I can't for the life of me figure out what she says. Anyone know???
