lol at the Child Abuse Comments

A) Lots of kids are accidentally dropped. It happens. You have to be careful, but sometimes stuff happens that you just can't control. In the case of the movie, there's movie magic and they make sure that children are safe. There are actually really STRICT rules that the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) enforces to protect child actors including babies. They can only be "under the lights" for a certain amount of time and it increases as they get older, but even teenagers can only work for about 10 hours a day INCLUDING tutoring time for school work.

B) Sometimes you end up with a make-shift babysitter. Life happens. Sometimes the most qualified person isn't available. In this movie, the cab driver was actually a friend of Messer's and Messer knew the cab driver had children, so it was hardly child endangerment. Yes, it was really a stupid idea to try to leave his child with the cab driver, but it really wasn't the worst thing he could do.

C) This movie was great at showing how difficult parenting is and how no one is perfect. I liked how they felt they were doing it all wrong, but then calmed down once they started to see how *real* parents were.

A) For all we know the original plan was for him to pick up the baby. It's possible that she fell, like babies do, when his reach startled her. The cameras are rolling, it works for the plot, keep that and go on.

B) Bad parenting would have been leaving the baby at home alone.

Sbingman, nice try, but I don't think there's any way to reach people who are determined to overreact. Alas.
