CPS? Um, no.... Selling the House, um, no...

Who writes this crap? They were appointed guardians by the parents, in the will. That doesn't need government approval. That entire part of the movie is nonsensical, fictional, garbage. The rest of the movie wasn't much better, but putting something like that in the movie really makes the writers look ignorant.

And if this want bad enough, the whole conversation about sex being a problem and whether or not they're getting married, would be none of CPS's business even if this was a situation they'd be involved in. That took the already moronic writers into a level of stupidity almost unheard of.

As for selling the house. Another idiotic load of crap. She couldn't sell the house without his permission. It was left to both of them to care for the baby. It would be in both their names.

I don't know much about the laws on this situation, but I would imagine that perhaps CPS are called in if the guardian situation is unusual. And this was pretty odd, being that they were both single and not even in a relationship. Most normal guardian choices would be a married couple or someone at least experienced with children.

I thought it quite plausible that CPS would get involved. And since sex does complicate things because what if the fling doesn't last and the co-parenting breaks down, CPS was right to be concerned about that too. It's a cause of instability.
