Why different beds ??

Is there a reason that him and his wife sleep in deprecate beds, but that they are kind of propped up next to each other ??
I'm guessing it's a religious thing, but I don't remember seeing or hearing them say anything about it.
Anybody know the deal with that ??

With all those kids 1 shared bed would lead to double the number.

But in all seriousness it was popular at one point in time among married couples out of straight comfort.

Bed was to sleep, not lay and watch TV and snuggle. Couples has stronger ties then today with a therapist saying it's not good when couples don't sleep in the same bed

I could be wrong, but I think king size beds didn't come along until later; couples slept in double beds until twins became popular in the 40's or 50's. I imagine they didn't like that so pushed them together (which doesn't work very well in my experience). They didn't have extra money for a new double bed. The Catholic church is not against marital sex! Just birth control.
