Films / TV series continuity???

Right, right, so I find myself in a bit of a muddle as regards my 'Futurama' continuity.

My understanding was that the films - 'Bender's Big Score' and the tentacles and Lord-of-the-Rings ones were brought in as sort of replacements for the discrete 30-minute, 24 episode (or whatever) TV serieses after the show was cancelled.

So I've just got round to seeing 'Into the Wild Green Yonder' (OK - three years after the fact; I do have lots of other stuff I like to obsess about as well) and at the end, it seems to come to new starting point wherein they're all heading off into the great 'wherever' and Fry & Leela have declared their luurrrve and so on. I was expecting the next film to carry on from that point, and was looking for it online to find out what it was called - but instead see there's actually a couple of new TV seasons of 'Futurama' been made that I hadn't even been aware existed, one of which appears to be running right at the moment.

So for anyone who's seen the films & the new TV series, do they address the ending of ItWGY at all or do they just carry on with business as usual for Planet Express as if the films didn't happen? Not that it matters, but I was just wondering. Continuity, and everything.

I believe season 6 carries on from the episodes of Into the Wild Green Yonder, when the ship crashes and everyone except the Professor is severely injured and have to be reborn, hence the show's name Rebirth which alludes to the rebirth of the show and the characters.

My apiarist owes me a favour.
