what's with Leela's punishment collar?

What was the whole thing with leela's collar?

I was expecting the whole movie that to lead somewhere, specially after the "wow now it's starting to feel GooOOood...". But nothing.

Is this another example of how pointless and stupid this movie was?

Also, it's very annoying that this site doesn't give any separation whatsoever from signatures.
