A giant tentacled Monster attacking New York (Okay Yivo did invade the whole universe but the show is set in New New York)? Now where have I seen that before? Maybe there was a little inspiration from Watchmen? Futurama's writer's are definitely the kind of people who would be familiar with the work of Alan Moore.
