Watched it yesterday. Loved it, but there were some problems

My mom bought me "Bender's Big Score" and "Beast with a Billion Backs" on Saturday. I watched "Bender's Big Score" and I hated it! But yesterday, I watched "Beast with a Billion Backs" and I LOVED IT!!! But there were some problems.

The first problem was still with Sal. Why is his skin tan now instead of pale? This also happened in the first movie.

The new characters aren't that great either. My least favorite character was Yivo and thought he was mean. But how did Fry become the pope when he had that tentacle in his neck? I don't know.

Speaking of Fry, this is what pissed me off the most. In fact, on the show, Fry actually LOVED Leela. He cared for her and wanted to be with her, and the most touching part of the episode "The Sting" was when he promised he'd be by her side forever and he'd love her for the rest of his life. Instead we get Colleen, an annoying, whorish, floozy. It pained my heart to see Fry with this new girl, but then I got happy when he finally dumped her!

Other than those two problems, this was a great movie. I was glad to see that Amy and Kif got married and that all the characters were there. Plus the jokes were great! And I was glad this one was better than "Bender's Big Score".

The writers themselves admitted that they "cheated" somewhat with Fry and Colleen but they needed it for the plot so they had little choice to make him a bit out of character.

Then again if you look at Yivo he did bear some resemblance to Leela...one eye, purple tentacles (instead of hair obviously) and Fry was the first one to "love" Yivo so it's obviously still in their minds.

They're probably going to leave the Fry and Leela thing till the last film though and rightly so.

This film was essentially filler...not really that linked to the story as a whole and at the end of the day was just a good comedy movie. Bender's Game will probably be similar leaving the Wild Green Yonder free to tie up all the lose ends before the series as a whole (probably) ends.

Maybe one explanation for Fry's sudden disinterest is he is just sick of pining for Leela's unrequited love. Even after the first movie, when she realized Lars was Fry, she still didn't appear to suddenly want to be with Fry: again, probably because he's "too immature." So, given Leela's constant refusal to return Fry's love, Fry maybe has become "fed up."

However, as the above poster mentioned, it's equally plausible that the writers will tie up the loose ends regarding their relationship/love in the final film, thus giving the last movie (and by extension, the series) a sense of finality. Then again, such a plot move could prove to be a double-edged sword if the series is renewed beyond the 4 movies, because then there would be little left to explore regarding the status of their relationship. For me, part of the fun of the series was wondering whether Fry and Leela would ever get together, so if they did finally get together, that fun would be gone...

Yes, Fry has done that several times during the series. Leela isn't interested and so he goes off and finds a woman that is. She never lasts very long, though.

I wasn't surprised to see Fry with Colleen.

Yes, it's like the classic guy (or even gal) in denial, refusing to admit to himself that he truly loves the one who will never love him back and thus, going off to find other girls in the hope that they will fill the void; and of course, those girls never do, thus explaining why Fry always atempts to rekindle the Leela romance that never quite got completely kindled in the first place.

Did you even watch any episode other than "The Sting"? Leela sees Fry as an immature idiot, only has a few episodes where she ends up sort of in love with him, though he presumably blows it offscreen since by the next episode, Fry is back down to dateless and Leela considers him a fool. Leela has had many men, and Fry has had almost just as many women.

After witnessing Leela falling for Lars and than still not wanting to be with him it makes sense to me that he'd rush headlong into a relationship with someone else.

Watched the movie two days ago and i saw Brittany Murphy in the credits and i got overwhelmed with sadness. She was such a talent.
