Why do people hate this film?? Somebody please in English?
I am very picky in horror films and I quite liked it.
My view is that it has no storyline whatsoever. Most slashers provide, however unlikely they may be, at least some kind of explanation to why the baddies do what they do. Here, I cannot find a single clue, except perhaps for them being portrayed as backward rural freaks, which, at least in some Norwegians' eyes, is an explanation itself.
No scientific madmen (Anatomie), no horrow movie maniacs (Scream), no betrayed som (Fritt Vilt), just bearded, silent maniacs killing for no apparent reason.
I kinda like that, If somebody tries to kill me, I usually don't stop and ask for their background story.
And you get their motivation at the dinner;
I bet it's more fun killing young girls then porking pigs.
Its is more scary when there is no reason.

I don't think people "hate" this movie. They just find it terribly bland, unoriginal and unremarkable.
The movie travels a well-known roads. The protagonists, the baddies, the other characters, the tension, the story and situations... we've all seen this before.
The plot is extremely linear and simple. This can work sometimes, but you need an awesome director, great actors and strong characterization and pacing. This wasn't the case here.
I'd give this movie a 4. It's not awful, but it's below average. I can't hate a movie I absolutely don't care for.
