Overlooked and underappreciated.
Granted, Rovdyr(a.k.a. Manhunt)has its' share of flaws(like many survival horror films), but the gritty realism and '70's setting made this film into a well-done "grindhouse" genre entry.
Given the lacking quality of recent U.S. horror releases, it seems that Europe has begun picking up the slack(e.g. Let The Right One In, Martyrs, The Children, and King Of The Hill)and I hope most genre fans will give Rovdyr the chance it deserves.
Fans of films like Eden Lake, The Hills Have Eyes, and Southern Comfort should pay special interest and seek out this movie.
If you're interested in obtaining a copy, try amazon.co.uk. It's listed under the title "Manhunt" and can be purchased for a reasonably inexpensive price with shipping to the U.S. Just be certain that you can play Region 2 DVDs. As of the time of this posting, no U.S. distributor has picked up the rights to Rovdyr, although rumors are afloat that a few major companies are looking at it with some interest. Hopefully a Region 1 copy will enable more casual horror fans to check it out.
