Foundation of Clay - Why Move on Jonas? *Spoilers*

The film has undeniable attractions once it shifts into gear and for those that like this sort of stuff, multiple twists. But at the heart of the narrative, there is simply no solid ground.

Jonas asks Martin at the end why he moved on him and all Martin offers, is that Jonas was supposedly getting close to finding the truth. But the fact is he wasn't. He had the same suspicions that his father's death (apparently bizarrely brushed off by police as an accident)as he'd always had and not the slightest bit of evidence in his possession.

So it simply makes no sense to impose this series of elaborate staged stunts and cons on Jonas as there was nothing to be gained, only lost (which is what eventually occurs).🐭

I somewhat agree but you'll have to take into consideration that Jonas was determined to find out what happened (more about this in your other topic). And Jonas was wise and resourceful, he was, like the bad guy once said, the best defense lawyer of his generation.

And in the end, it's just a movie. :)

But Jonas had the paint of the car that ran his father's car off the road analyzed in Germany. He was making headway.
