Gregory Dark

This guy used to direct porno movies, hardcore, softcore... I have a feeling "Undercover" with Athena Massey is going to be better than this movie.

Yes, but he made outstanding porn movies - Night Rhythms is one of the best of the post-Basic Instinct outbreak of softcore thrillers. The "New Wave Hookers" series were the best of their era and he's always had the knack of making side genre projects such as Dead Man Walking that offer a lot of fun and entertainment.

Indeed, out of the whole porn (soft and hard) industry of the 80s and 90s Hippolyte has always been streets ahead of the competition.

After a long stretch in music videos I'm keen to see what Alexander G Hippolyte is up to next. He always struck me as one of the few directors who could break out of the porn ghetto. Here's hoping...

You must have been smoking crack in the 1980s. Those porn flicks were altogether horrid. Thank god that the proliferation of camcorders, a relaxing of obscenity standards or whatever put an end to porno's attempts at any sort of narrative.

Gregory Dark's films in the 80's were basically a porn director thinking he was an auteur. Film's like "New Wave Hookers" were essentially bad film school pieces with hardcore sequences. Gawdawful, hacky, poop being presented as if it were art.

The saddest part of it was that the porn world at the time was populated by so many honestly, dumb people, that they couldn't tell the difference between mindless pretension and art. Dark's latest cinematic effort shows that he really hasn't learned much in thirty years.
