While I thought the movie was decent, I'm unconvinced by the ending.

While I got chills seeing Kayako's reign finally end (I knew her for so many years), I was unconvinced that Naoka would become a Ju-On. Didn't she never recieve the spirits from her mother? Also, she seemed like such a nice girl. She was completely aware that Max was possessed.

Perhaps while Naoka was being killed, she was thinking irrationally, and her emotions were strong enough to create a Ju-On.

If she never took curses from her mother's patients as a child, then perhaps this tells us that the curses did nothing to Kayako physically, but fed on her hate and rage, helping her become the curse.

And while this is off-topic, whatever happen to Sarah Michelle Geller's sister's Ju-On? Is she now inside the burned house, awaiting to kill those who enter?

IMDB is a kind reminder of why I appreciate the moderaters at GameFAQs.

The story lines for these movies are completely *beep* up. I cant understand any of them. I jut thought that this movie was absolutley repetitive. The ending was ABSOLUTLEY terrible. First they make us believe that there is no more Kayako and that theres this whole new ghost bitch and then they show the girl as Kayako in the last shot. What the *beep* is it that they wanr us to get out of this movie?
To me it was a waiste of money renting this movie because its story line did not math the past two movies. Plus there was a whole new movie crew for this which is why I believr this movie sucked so bad.

I found the movie pretty bad, but fun to laugh at. However, I think the last shot showed Kayako because her spirit was now trapped inside Rose (the little girl), who had ended Kayako's curse by drinking her blood after that ritual. So it was supposed to be a depiction of Kayako hugging the stupid woman who kept letting more death happen. That's how I took it, anyway.

To me, the reason why the first wife is shown to be the chronic child (when the camera pans around her at the end by the ambulance), is because the child must have drank the blood (?) that maybe the japanese girl got that had the bad spirits (?) of the Ju-On, thus containing it maybe. I dunno. I felt the movie took a turn for the worst for:

1. Another sequel that didn't resolve anything.
2. The ending again, not resolving anything.

Yes, it is assumed by how things were left at the end of "The Grudge 2" that Aubrey is now inside the original japanese house, and that Kayako was freed and Allison Flemming brought that back with her from Japan.

I don't think the evil spirits made Kayako 'the grudge'. In the grudge 2, her mother told Aubrey "I didn't make her what she was." meaning Kayako had a grudge against her mother for "eating" those evil spirits but that had nothing to do with her being a 'Grudge'.That subplot was only introduced because Aubrey and Kayako had one thing in common: They both hated their mothers with a grudge. That's why Kayako specifically chose Aubrey to be her replacement as a Grudge in that house. You notice why Kayako suddenly pulled Aubrey into the house - that's because 1.) The grudge now could spread beyond the house because of the fire (again, Kayako's mother explained this, meaning Aubrey got the curse the moment she interacted with Eason because Eason got the curse when pulling Karen out of the house) and 2.) Kayako, sensing Aubrey had a grudge against her mother, felt she was the perfect choice to replace her in the spirit form of the Grudge. So, Naoko became a Grudge because 'she died in the grip of a powerful rage', being able to be fed by evil spirits wasn't a prerequisite.

Um no. Aubrey, in the spirit of Kayako, followed Allison all the way in Chicago, correct? so Kayako wasn't in the burned house anymore, it was in Chicago now.

This film makes it seem that *anyone* who is murdered becomes a 'Ju-On'. Every street in the world must have one by now. And since they can apparently travel via people and infect other houses, I'm surprised there is anyone left alive in the world.

Okay, make a sentence out of the following words: Face. Sodding. Your. Shut.

People arr left alive in the world because this if fiction and doesn't pertain to the real world. It doesn't confuse me because I've read and have seen many stories about curses and evil spirits.

One of the traditions is the curse or spirit that attaches itself to anyone that interacts with it. All the people involved died because they interacted with it somehow. The Dr. didn't see Kayoko until she got involved and went to the hotel. There's another tradition where the spirit infects an object or a house. The main family lived in the house as well as the sister of the cursed spirit.

There's also another tradition where the more people get killed by the spirit, the stronger the spirit can get and attach itself to the people around the curse.

I think since Kayoko's sister didn't get to finish the ritual and was brutally murdered, her spirit was angry at her murderer. That's why she attacked him and disappeared. She was enraged at the point of death and avenged her own death. Kayoko's appearance at the end was because the girl drank her blood without the ritual being performed, so Kayoko's spirit was able to live on through the little girl now.

I don't think this movie is as bad as some people are saying. It's not perfect and has a lot of stupid things going on, but even with that it's way better than a lot of ghost movies out there. I gave it a 5. It was average overall. That's OK for a horror movie.

Lol! To be fair though, in the Japanese based films, people (aside from American tourists and schoolgirls) stay the hell away from the haunted house.

It's only really in the USA based films where just everyone is getting cursed because they don't yet know to be afraid. However, after this last film I imagine the apartment might not get rented out anytime soon (too late now as Kayako is still loose anyway.)
