kill the curse ?

why doesn't someone, one of the victims or one of their friends or relatives, just do research on the topic and simply dig up the body and poor holy water or salt all over it ? That should put an end to it shouldn't it ?

Also why isn't there any way of fighting the curse ? Why does it not have any weakness ?
