I mean yes lol.....all the victims do is stare at those ghosts in awe will they are killed. In reality One would beat the crap out of those poor ghosts.

BUT. Imagine if you saw a ghost appear in front of you. And you know it is going to kill you. But you don't know how. The characters are frozen with fear because they have never seen anything like this and they don't know what it is going to do to them.

Takashi Shimizu wants the characters to be so scared that they feel powerless to the ghosts. Yes Kayako is not so scary now because we are more accustomed to her image but these characters have never seen anything like this. I mean its not often you see a ghost, let alone a ghost thats is as vivid and physical as these ones.
I dislike it when people underestimate characters in horror films. Yes they have done dumb stuff but think of the possible reasons; they are injured, the have to think on there feet, they don't know they're in a horror film, they are injured, they aren't all strong or fast runners.
The Grudge = Run or Die
Because self defense obviously doesn't help.

shareDon't know if any of you have seen either the made for tv Japanese Grudge movies. There's one scene where she materializes from a fallen wig while some girl watches in "horror" for what takes at least 5 minutes for her to fully form from the wig. I can understand the frozen in fear concept, but at some point you're gonna come to your sense and GTFO of there or fight back or something.
However like someone else pointed out, that despite the form of being a 100 pound woman or a 60 pound boy, their strength is well beyond anything human and would mess up anyone trying to fight them hand to hand.
Frankly speaking, I would've tried to run, but fight if I'm cornered. Even if I knew they super strength, just sitting there frozen in fear as they kill me is not a good way to go.
