Awesome movie great acting, but do not expect the traditional comedy, Based on the cast I thought this was one of those funny comedies but actually is more like a drama, I guess this is the reason why it have the low score.
shareI agree, it is a lot gentler and has a lot more heart then you'd expect. Its not about slapstick or in-your-face humour ... its very much character/relationship driven with the cast hitting just the right notes for their roles. Great to see Brian Dennehy, a very underrated and talented guy.
shareI so agree with you on this one, I love Steve Martin and jack black and I was expecting a full on commedy, I wasn't disappointed but it wasn't a commedy at all.
shareThe fact it is played straight and with real heart is what makes this movie so good. It was realistic but also very well acted with a nice story. I really liked this movie it's to bad a movie like this doesn't do much at the box office but absolute garbage like every Adam Sandler movie makes a ton of money.

I'm sure it was promoted as a comedy to trick as many people as possible to see it because of Jack and Steve, but probably also because of Owen.
No, i don't think its a bad movie. I just remember being dissepointed on the lack of comedy in a comedy when it was released.
