I am completely amazed that....

somehow, someway, someone convinced 3 very fine actors in Forest Whitaker, Jude Law, and Liev Schreiber to do this incredibly horrible movie that is more suited for Mario Van Peebles, John Stamos and Richard Grieco as an original SyFy Network movie...

Amazed...

reply

Well I am sure they signed on with great intentions. From the looks of the final product it wasn't just the screenplay it was the overall package and execution

You mean 3 fine actors in Jude Law, Leiv Schreiber and Alice Braga...

"None of which has won an Oscar like Whittaker. "
Erm... What on Earth has winning an Oscar got to do with anything?

4 years ago, estimates put the figure at over 217 million people, during that year, who were moviegoers in America and Canada alone. Add to that figure the amount of people who just watch a film on DVD/Blue-Ray etc..., then add all the people from all other countries who do the same. Millions upon millions of people watch films. Around 6000 people decide who gets an Oscar and who knows why they choose who they do, and quite frankly who cares and why should they? And only a percentage of them actually come up with the shortlist for any given category anyway with whatever motivation at the time driving their decision-making process.

The Oscars are just a meaningless bunch of trophies dripping with sycophantic adulation (except to a few) but it does give the Academy the opportunity to host one big, almighty back-slapping, suck-up shindig once a year to posterior-lap the pretend pseudo-royalty of moguls and fame-hungry acting elite...

I personally don't rate Whitaker, but heck - I'm just another one of the millions with my opinion.

That's quite a dismissive statement about Alice Braga. Why did you assume my comment was based purely on looks?

I am aware of Forest's resume and I still don't rate him. You think he is amazing. Good for you. I have my opinion. You have yours. Try to not assume things.

Please point out exactly where I compared Alice Braga with Forest Whitaker.

Eh?? That's gibberish! Do you understand what the word 'compare' means? At no point did I compare Alice Braga with Forest Whitaker!

Oh now you're just being silly.

All I originally wrote was,

"You mean 3 fine actors in Jude Law, Leiv Schreiber and Alice Braga... "

I preferred to mention her instead of him because, and I'm repeating myself here again, I do not rate him as an actor. I didn't make any comparisons between him and any other actor, I merely omitted him from my list because I do not rate him as an actor. My opinion, to which I am entitled to have.

When making a comparison between two things, you list similarities and differences, qualities and likenesses. I did none of these things. I went as far as not even mentioning him in my opening statement at all.

Obviously... Hence me writing this reply here to your reply to my reply to said question.

Did I not answer it adequately kicke_blueback?

kicke_blueblack: "Is that so?"
Me: "When making a comparison between two things, you list similarities and differences, qualities and likenesses. I did none of these things"

kicke_blueblack: "Then howcome you prefered to mention her instead of him below the topic "great actors"? "
Me: "I preferred to mention her instead of him because, and I'm repeating myself here again, I do not rate him as an actor. I didn't make any comparisons between him and any other actor, I merely omitted him from my list because I do not rate him as an actor. My opinion, to which I am entitled to have."

You're gonna have to help me out here.

So it's racist slur time now?? Wow!! Forest's fandom are certainly on the intense side...

Are you lot for real??

So someone says they don't rate an actor, and that actor happens to be black, and you call racist? You're both living in cloud cuckoo land... And Ouch! That's a really bad attitude to have...

I can't remember the last time I encountered racist comments like that nor racism in fact. Where on Earth do you live that causes you to think in that way? It's sad. There's no place for 'the race card' you know. We're all the same! We're all equal. Is it beyond your understanding that someone just doesn't think someone is a particularly good actor? Has differing opinions on what makes a good actor? I really am saddened by both your comments.

You have no idea of my race nor beliefs, the race or beliefs of my friends, nor my life in general and yet you assume this? What sort of person accuses like this?

What sort of people are you? You should be ashamed.

Please help me here. How is it a "non-answer", please? Incomplete maybe. Not what you were looking for, again maybe, but certainly not a "non-answer".

As you're not helping me, I will try and guess what else it is you want me to say in answer to you as I am certainly not trying to conceal anything. There's nothing to conceal!

Repo Men has four main characters, four main 'stars'. The OP talked of "3 very fine actors". As I have stated repeatedly, I do not rate Forest Whitaker as an actor and that is my opinion and one I'm very much entitled to have, as are you with your opinion of him, and one I wouldn't dream of having a go at you for. If therefore I don't rate one of those four main actors and the OP was mentioning three, I merely substituted the remaining main actor, in this case, that was Alice Braga. I do also much prefer her acting to Forest's.

Does that help?

Did he rape you or something? Forest is one of the main charachters and for you to act like he wasnt even in the movie does not make any sense, that would be like me ignoring heath ledger as the joker and act like he was'nt in the movie, and say that's my opinion because i hate him or some other irrelevant reason.
