Uhhh, law suit! DUH!

He lost his heart after faulty company equipment shocked him and almost killed him. If he wanted his new heart for free he could have sued his work place. Technically it was the companies fault so I bet he could have gotten out of paying if he went to court.

I thought the company could have at least paid for the heart replacement...

yeah it seemed like a weak point in the plot. they could have told us the repo guys have to use their OWN PERSONAL equipment or something to fix it. still interesting movie though

reply

That would've been the best way for the plot to go.

reply

I'm sure the company has itself covered with some fine print in his contract or something that allows no fault or litigation, completely protecting the company.

You don't think in a dystopian future like this there haven't been laws passed that protect the company fully from lawsuits of any kind? How else could they get away with any of this?

reply

No lawyers.

Can't believe you didn't say: (Jude) law suit

reply

mandatory arbitration clause in the eula

reply

Ur so stupid. LoL It wasn't the company's fault. The black guy rigged the equipment.

reply

Right, because this is so readily apparent to everybody involved. The lawyers knew about this, the insurance companies knew about this, HAHA it seems like everybody knew about it except for Jude Law himself! Well gee!

And so what? He was still injured by company equipment doing a job for the company on company time. Who cares if the equipment was rigged? In any scenario, Jude Law wouldn't have to pay for his heart and that's that.

If anybody's stupid, it's you.

reply

2 posts so far with the same question. Whitaker rigged the equipment, Schreiber most likely ordered him to do it so not to lose his best repo man and Whitaker went along with it cos he's nuts and wanted to continue on with his friend

reply

Not really!

I was thinking about this throughout the movie and it was bugging me, but it became a bit more sensible once we learned that the device was actually sabotaged by Jake, and wasn't faulty in the first place.
