Basically, this is a re-make of Logan's Run

I watched this last night and I was just waiting for the moment when either Jude or Forest would get a new organ and then go on the run. I quite liked this film but maybe it's because I'm getting old, but I found the knife fight scene in the corridor just gratuitous. One thing though - no F-words liberally thrown throughout the script. Well done script writers!

Nothing like Logan's Run.

Being "on the run" from oppressors is a classic plot device going WAY back, that alone cannot be used to say a movie is like Logan's Run. How about we call the Harrison Ford FUGITIVE movie like Logan's Run also?

That being said as long as it has been brought up Logan's Run is long overdue for a remake. I suggest in the remake having the 40th bday be death with 2 thirty nine year old runners.

Sorry Dude... I have seen Logans Run and this is NOTHING like it except for having to escape a corrupt system.

In LR they were in search of a fabled "Utopia" - There is none of that here...

But I must agree with you... I am getting old and don't like overuse of Swear words in movies, and the script writers got it spot on...

And yes the Knife fight is just insane and brutal... But when you think about it, the clues are there all the way through... Its part of the illusion...

Got to be careful not to spoil for other viewers but WHY would every corporate executive be carrying blades and cleavers in a place so secure that even GOD would have a job getting in? It sort of fits when you think about it...

But hell yeah! It was brutal! Was it needed? Possibly not but it will appease the violence fans.

I totally agree with your assertion. The repo men are sandmen; good friends until one goes on the run. The repo men's attitude toward delinquent accounts reflects sand men attitude toward runners. Whitaker's character continually tries to redeem Law like Richard Jordan tried to redeem Michael York. Sanctuary is any country not controlled by the union. Braga plays Jenny Agutter's character, leading Law to sanctuary. There is a scene that almost exactly mirrors Logan convincing the sanctuary network he is sincerely a runner. The plot veers away from Logan's Run at the end although Law does manage to bring down the system in his dream state, and story elements are changed from aging to organ repossession, but for the the first 80% of the film it is essentially Logan's Run.
