Don't let all the Teenie Bopper Flick lovers fool you..

This is a good, solid movie made by director of Blair Witch project. He made a movie called "Altered" before this and after BWP and it is also good with an alien flair. The darkness of the movie is essential and it is by no means "too dark" as many claim...I watched this on a plasma widescreen and never once thought it was too dark. Get a real TV if you think this is too dark...the darkness is essential. In fact, if I have any complaint, he showed a little too much of creatures in the movie...I would have kept them hidden more and he did so pretty well by using the darkness.

I don't think anyone who appreciates a movie with real scares and not the cheap scares like fast moving things in the background and ridiculously loud sounds that don't scare you, but just shock your ears, will be disappointed in this movie. Sanchez, the director, is easily seen by his two follow-ups to BWP as the genius behind the blair witch. The other director of blair has put out several very weak movies out after BWP.

Let me know what you think. People who respect real scares made by a good story, eerie setting and creepy storyline, need only reply.

I enjoyed it as well and it was refreshing to see a more original style of "demon" instead of a heavy special effects type. The movie certainly did have some issues though..

The production quality is not as high as a lot of films that come out these days so I'd just suggest anyone who is really bothered by that type of thing to think twice about seeing it. They can go watch some crappy remake instead.

i agree with everything written above.

i hardly get creeped out by horror films anymore. this one had me covering my eyes sometimes! that hasnt happened in years!

i thought it was well done. i was surprised to come on imdb and see all the bad comments on it. i think it just depends on the viewer. the ones who are not patient or need something to happen every second or have vertigo are generally the ones that cant stand the flick. theyre just not open enough. i say poo to them. go watch saw.

I agree with the OP also.
I never had a problem with shaky cam or darkness.
My girlfriend and I watched this on DVD and we had a good scary time. It wasnt brilliant, but it was quite creepy, had some good suspenseful moments and frightening moments, and we totally related to what we were watching as she is Chinese and I have lived in China for 5 years so we know how creepy backwater China is, how susperstitious the country folk are, and how hopeless it would feel in that situation (undead chasing you or not).
I liked the movie. I couldnt care less what people who hated it think.
I think they have grown up on Michael Bay style horror while I grew up on Tobe Hooper and Wes Craven. (each to his own is my point there)

I really liked it too, nice and scary. Had to hide behind my pillow the whole time. It protected me well.

I'm watching it now and I have to say I can see everything clearly. I only have a 720p LG LCD TV and everything looks perfectly fine. Maybe it's because I'm watching the Blu Ray?

Anyways, I was never a big fan of Blair Witch. I did see Altered and thought it was a decent low budget flick... in fact I defended it against all the bashers on its board. So far this one seems pretty boring, but I'm just over a half hour into it. I'm gonna push through and hope it gets better.

Look, I dig your whole, "You're just too young to appreciate it, ya whippersnappers!" vibe, but I think you're kidding yourself when it comes to this movie's spring-loaded cat content.

Seventh Moon actually had a plot, but it also had its share of "cheap scares" like fast moving things in the background and loud noises out of nowhere.

Hell, that's how the villains were introduced, one quickly dashes across the road. From there we have countless scenes of the heroes kneeling in grass as you catch a glimpse of one darting by in the background, or the baddies jumping up and hammering on the windows of the car--just seconds after the random wounded guy jumped up and hit the car's window, I might add.

I'm not saying all this movie had were jump scares, but they were definitely used throughout the film.

I'm sorry, it was too dark. And unlike the Blair Witch, there was no real reason for the shaky camera work. There might have been a good story there somewhere, but I literally got too much of a headache to appreciate it.

Totally agree. I am a big horror movie fan and nothing tends to really shock me anymore (and I find it to be true especially for the ones that tend to scare others). I find myself drawn more to dark, atmosphere horror films that fill u with a sense of dread rather than cheap jump scares, and I have to admit this film (while I did see it in the dark at 3am, but still I've seen others at that time as well with no effect) actually had my heart pounding a lot of the time! I think it mostly has to do with two reasons: one being that I HATE IT when I can actually SEE the monster/creature/ghost/zombie/whatever blood thirsty villain the horror movie focuses on bc I am always left disappointed and actually less scared by it when I do. It's the movies that either don't ever show u them by simply alluding to it by very creepy descriptions and/or if they do show them, it's only glimpses or kinda blurry, at a distance, or close-up so that it still gives u the creeps! Bc I don't care how d*mn good the make-up artist is, they will NEVER be as good as your own imagination in my opinion! It's hard (at least currently) to have special effects that seem real enough to spook me. So I liked that the moon demons weren't shown that clearly bc I felt it kept it creepy as hell honestly! Secondly, I thought the movie delivered in that I personally felt that the main characters did nothing stupid or absent-minded or naive to bring about the situation they found themselves in....they were on a carefree honeymoon, touring China WITH a tour guide (who they had every right to feel safe with as he was obviously charming and was doing a good enough job (and making them feel secure enough) thus far for him to garner gifts and high praise from them! So I felt that really delivered bc a lot of times while watching scary movies I find the main characters decisions that got them to their horrible circumstances too stupid or unrealistic and that I could never relate to bc I'd NEVER do what they did to get me there! But just imagine feeling like u were having the perfect ending to fun day at a touristy festival with a fun and friendly tourist guide who up until that point, delivered, only to find yourself waking up alone in a car where the driver left to go get directions in a isolated village over an hour ago with no cell service or idea where u r or knew anyone around!! Ugh goosebumps! So yeah, that's the kinda stuff I find scary and why this film delivered for me at least!

Also the cave scene where Amy smart was walking through in the dark and u could vaguely see all the moon demons standing their facing the background behind her was def a chilling scene in my opinion! So whatever, I dug it.
