Please please PLEASE let this movie have the same wacky humor as "Better Off Dead" and "One Crazy Summer". Please have an animated opening. Good to have this guy back!!

Aren't you relieved to know you're not a golem?
It could certainly be a possibility, seeing as it:
(a) involves college/school and
(b) Curtis Armstrong is in it
but, we all know how well the magic of films from 20 years ago translates into today (see: Star Wars and Indiana Jones).
Out of everything Savage has worked on that I've seen, from his three features to the kid stuff he does now, this felt the least like something he did. It felt like it could be any one of National Lampoon's weaker movies or as though any hack could have directed it.
Unfortunately, unlike his previous efforts, SSH did not write this, only co-directed (and what's up with that?). In other words, this was done for the paycheck.
Maybe he was brought in to finish what the other director couldn't. It's anybody's guess.
