It did say at the end that the woman, brenda, died of a drug overdose in October 1995. So she had her baby and was clean for a time and then.....
...sad eh.
As for dicky, the boxer, he would be out of prison now so who knows what he made of his life and his kid..?
The worst one throughout most of the film, Boo-Boo, it said at the end that he was smoking crack again and had a $200 a day habit.
He also now had HIV and really looked very bloated (incication of kidney problems possibly) so I wonder if he is even still around.
It was a sad story wasn't it.
When Boo-Boo got cleaned up and was a donut delivery guy he was loving the life of being straight so much and then he got fired as he didn't have a drivers license. After that he must have just gone back to drugs pretty fast.
I really do hope they are doing well.

I don't remember it saying that she died, it said 6 months later and her wearabouts were still unknown. I did find it odd that the police told Boo Boo that she was fine, had the baby and didn't want her info disclosed, meanwhile he was going to crackhouses and they were telling him they saw her a week ago. Anyone know if she did die in oct 1995?

I looked her up elsewhere online, and yeah, said to say, about a year after this came out, she did die. Doesn't say what happened to the baby. Don't even know if she had a boy or a girl. It was so sad, they never really had a chance, any of them. Boo Boo did well, when he was working, and his family welcomed him back with open arms, but when he lost his job and that structure, he fell right back into the drugs, and given his health, I'm sure he's gone by now. Dickie is still around. He has a web site, living off the fame from the movie, "The Fighter", but he's been in and out of jail, in and out of rehab, has never had it easy since they filmed this. He tries, but crack is pure evil, and it does a major job on your brain.

I read that Boo Boo has died of a aids related disease, however reports this year say he is still alive. Dickie was questioned about a murder outside The Paradise bar but it was done by Dave Morrell. The guy who owned Eat A Donut is now dead from a car accident, and it is now a store. I find it sad that everyone who was in the documentry has come to this but not suprised!! Dickie as of May this year is crack free. Janet the woman with Boo Boo for his test was found dead rolled in a carpet two years ago. I would to know what really happened, maybe a revisited show & how the area has changed and what if they are still alive these people are doing and how they have changed their lives.

The info you gave on the donut shop is false. Here is proof:

I believe you may have made up a bunch of your conclusions. Please do not spread mis-information. Thank you.

Boo Boo and Dickie are still in Lowell.. Boo Boo is clean and living with aids.. he has a part in Mark Wahlberg's 'The Fighter'.. (the true story of Micky Wark, Dickie Ecklunds Brother) as himself.. also, as you know.. Dickie is being played by Christian Bale... Mark Wahlberg is playing Micky Ward...

unfortunately, Brenda overdosed and her kid is being raised by her parents.

Boo Boo was played by an actor by the name of Paul Campbell. He was not played by himself.

My high school health class always showed High on Crack Street during the anti-drug unit, and my year they actually found Boo Boo and got him to speak in front of the school at an assembly. This was either 2001 or 2002. He was clean at the time. I remember one of my classmates during the Q&A asked if he ever planned to get a GED and he said no, but then our teacher the next day said he came to him after the assembly and asked where he could find info about GED programs. If he did relapse or died of AIDS related complications, that's a shame because he was really trying to get his life back together.

Also, my fiance was living in Lowell at the time I saw this doc (we were friends at school then had to move, ironically we didn't start dating 'til he moved) and I'm like "OMG you live in a town full of crackheads!"

I just watched it. Couldn't believe he's still around considering he had the hiv 15 years ago. I mean it's not like he has Magic Johnson money.

Does aids kill anyone anymore?

reply

HIV does not automatically equal AIDS. People who have been infected with HIV can live (very, very carefully) for the rest of their lives with it and be fine.

reply

True, but that's guys that take care of themselves. Even if he went straight from the day he found out he was HIV positive, it would take a minor miracle for him to still be alive today because his body wouldn't have been in tip top condition due to the years of drug abuse.
