3 of the 4 main original cast members are gone

I've been excited about this movie for a long time. I even e-mailed the director that I was excited about the sequel, but now that I see that Jonah Blechman is only original returning main cast member out of the four, I'm not so sure anymore.

Part of the charm and hilarity of the original movie is that the main characters we so perfect with each other. I can't picture other guys playing the roles and there's going to be a disconnect.

Usually films or TV shows that replace most of their original cast members start to tank. Like someone else said in this forum, it would have been better to just put these new actors in new roles.

A November release date? Really? A spring break movie right before Christmas? This should be postponed until spring 2009. If most of the characters are replaced you would think that counteracting the release date to next spring would bring more excitement.

A trailer and promotional photos need to be released immediately to at least get people used to the new actors. If the production company waits until the last second and surprises fans of the last movie with new actors, the negative word of mouth is going to drop-kick this movie.

You can't screw with the gays like that.

How did you get Todd Stephens e-mail??

I am bummed to see that only one of the four original leads returned for the sequel. I wonder why. Michael Carbonaro was the funniest/sexiest thing about the first movie, and I will miss him. But I have faith that the new actors will be good. I guess we'll find out in Decemeber! Fingers crossed!

Well, the DVD came out today and as I thought, it's horrible. I couldn't even make it half way through the movie because it was embarrassing to watch.

Yep, three of the lead actors were replaced - by 3 guys that can't act. Apparently all of the eye candy in the movie is supposed to distract us from this major flaw. If there was a good plot, maybe it would have worked. I didn't see the movie in the theater, thank God but the first 5 minutes seemed like it was added at the last second to explain why we are seeing 3 different actors. Instead of being funny, it was just sick. If it was part of the original movie, well it is what it is. Not funny.

I don't know what happened. Maybe the 3 weren't asked to come back, maybe they didn't want to come back. Who cares? It didn't work. Even the jokes aren't funny this time. They seem forced and fake.

Listen to the reviews and what people have to say about it. If you listen to a 10-star review it's likely from someone that has a financial association with the movie. Sure you might make it all the way through the movie for curiosities sake, but I guarantee you won't watch it again. Rent it first.

I'm pretty sure there won't be a 3rd movie.

um, i think it was quite clearly explained why three of the four actors didn't appear in this film.

i defiantly dont think anyone would give it a ten star, but this film wasn't as horrible as a lot of people are saying, true the first one was a bit better, but it was still a decent movie with a few good laughs, would have been better if they had prez hilton die horribly at some point, but still a decent watch.

and as for gays in space, would be worth it to see Nico doing the princes Leia buns and queen amadala looks

You're wrong. It's just as bad as people are saying. I'd say don't even rent it.

todd stephens had this to say about the cast changes.“When we cast Edge of Seventeen back in 1997, it was really difficult to get agents and managers to submit their clients for the film, because they were afraid of them playing gay,” he said. “I would say that it’s really shocking and extremely sad that 11 years later, we are still having the same problem.” so basicly,it wasnt that the original cast members wouldnt do it.their agent wouldnt let them do it.and considering the three of them are really unknown actors.they cant exactly fight their agents on things.so dont blame the actors.blame their agents!

just because Todd Stephens says it, doesn't make it true. The script sucked. The money sucked. Original cast probably couldn't give up their lives to go film for something they didn't believe in along with their agents/managers.

Oh course the creator is gonna spin it.

Just watched it on DVD and yes it sucked.

It wasn't even the new actors fault. The production values were a fair way down from the previous movie and the script wasn't very good.

i'm going to pretend this movie was a dream and keep my great memories of the first movie intact.

Was there any eye candy? Other than Colton Ford and Jasperbear, I didn't see any.

I happened to see it last night (well, some of it). It had its moments, but then I've never seen the first one. I've also never managed to watch more than about two minutes of GLEE, and pray for the death of Perez Hilton (so to speak, as I don't pray). I may not be the ideal market for trashy mainstream gay appealing films.

The soundtrack wasn't bad, though (esp. HOT TOPIC and Miss Sinatra's theme song).

It was awful. I liked the first movie, although it had some flaws. But that was made up for by my favorite story line, Jarrod and Griff's sweet little romance. This so-called 'sequel'(and if it only had one original actor from the first movie in it, how exactly is it a real sequel?) was just atrocious! Horrible. Lame on every front. Apparently they thought crude, unfunny jokes and lots of simulated sex acts would make up for the egregiously bad story and the lack of any likeable characters. I'm thoroughly disappointed, and glad that i didn't spend any money on this movie. Even a dollar would have been far too much.
